Van Buren Center
Volunteer and Donation Hub
ABOUT US:
The Van Buren Center is one of the largest shelters in the nation providing emergency shelter to 600 individuals each night. Under one roof we provide shelter and services to three separate programs for single adult women, families, and single adult men during our Winter Overflow program.
The Van Buren Center is operated by the YMCA of Central Ohio and is funded by the Community Shelter Board. The Community Shelter Board leads a coordinated community effort to ensure that everyone has a place to call home and brings together 16 agencies across central Ohio, including the Y, to work together as a cohesive system for change.
Current Volunteer Opportunities
Effective May 1, 2025, all volunteer sign-ups for the Van Buren Center will transition to the YMCA Volunteer Matters platform, and we will no longer utilize Sign Up Genius for sign-ups.
